109 million American adults to travel for Thanksgiving
According to a recent survey from The Vacationer, 109 million American adults (42.36%) plan to travel this Thanksgiving, 10.52% of which plan to travel by air. This is a 45% increase from last year and overall holiday travel is up 37% from last year.
Hertz to acquire 100,000 Tesla vehicles
In their first big move since emerging from bankruptcy in June, Hertz has ordered 100,000 Teslas to add to their fleet. The vehicles are due to be delivered in the next 14 months, and the Tesla Model 3 sedans will be available for customers to rent at Hertz locations in major U.S. markets and parts of Europe. The transaction will be the single-largest purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) ever made.
Passport processing back to pre-pandemic levels
The State Department has announced that routine passport processing is back to pre-pandemic levels of 8-11 weeks and 5-7 weeks for expedited processing. After working through an enormous backlog from the pandemic, processing times now begin on the day the application is received at a passport agency or center.
The State Department also advised that mail delays are still a challenge, so travelers should still plan to submit applications as early as possible for upcoming trips.
