
WHO calls for easing of travel restrictions (Aviation Week Network)
The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for many travel restrictions to be lifted or eased. The agency says that the restrictions “do not provide added value and contribute to economic and social stress.
Crystal Cruises pauses operations (Travel Weekly)
After more than 30 years of business, the luxury cruise line, Crystal Cruises, will pause further operations through the end of May. The announcement came last week, as the cruise line’s parent company, Genting Hong Kong, stated they would be out of cash by the end of the month. The three ships in operation were all due to complete their sailings, however the Crystal Symphony, which was due to end its sailing in Miami, on January 22nd, did not complete the journey as planned. A federal district court in Miami issued a warrant for the ship due to over $2 million in unpaid fuel bills and the sailing was rerouted to the Bahamas where it was seized by authorities. Passengers were then ferried from Bimini to Florida.

Why is The Points Guy suing American Airlines? (The Points Guy)
The popular travel media platform, The Points Guy, is suing American Airlines to keep the carrier from blocking access to its frequent-flyer program. The Points Guy launched a free app in September to help consumers keep track of their membership points and miles all in one place to teach consumers how to “travel smarter” by making the most of their points. American Airlines sent a cease and desist letter to the company, claiming that the app access AA.com and AAdvantage customer data in a way that is not compliant with their standards for customer security. The Points Guy wants users to have the freedom to choose what to do with their rewards and in response, filed a counter suit to protect their users’ rights.
