NEW DIRECT-BILLING AT WYNDHAM HOTELS FOR CORPORATE CLIENTS

Corporate travelers can now take advantage of a new booking, billing, and payment program at many Wyndham Hotels and Resorts.  Wyndham Direct will create unique identification numbers to corporations, which will allow for direct-billing without the use of the travelers’ credit cards.  Travelers will benefit from a seamless and quick check-in and check-out process, and their folios will be directly sent to travel managers.  Wyndham Direct was first introduced in March in the brand’s LaQuinta properties, followed by Super 8 and Days Inn hotels in July,  By the end of 2020, Wyndham plans to introduce Wyndham Direct to all US properties, which includes over 6,000 hotels.  National Travel has assisted many of our corporate clients with the set up of direct bill programs and are happy to assist in this program as well!  The streamlining of the billing process will help destress your travelers and our reporting methods make the reconciliation process a breeze.

Top Travel Leaders Call for More Testing

According to CEOs from 14 Travel Companies, more and better COVID-19 testing is the key to reopening.  A letter from the US Travel Association sent to the White House on July 27th, urged the federal government to make effective testing more available and also asked for faster response times for results.  The letter specifically mentioned the passage of the bipartisan TEST Act, which would enhance testing resources and help to promote safe and healthy travel while restoring confidence in travel consumers.

EU REEVALUATES “SAFE LIST”

As planned, EU officials met last week to review their travel restrictions on foreigners.  The review led to no new countries being added to the safe list and the removal of Algeria.  European borders remain closed to Americans as well as visitors from dozens of other counties.  Contact us at National Travel to discuss where you can travel and what restrictions there are.

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH AIRLINE FOOD?

A leading airline food company in Israel, Tamam Kitchen, is offering their in-flight meals with no ticket required.  The company, who services many international carriers out of Tel Aviv, including El Al Airlines and Turkish airlines, first piloted this idea in July, following restrictions to in-flight meal services.  Their meals are offered to the general public for as low as $3 per tray and may include dishes such as fish cutlets in tomato sauce and couscous or sweet potato ravioli with green beans and lentils. Tammam Kitchen has reported around 100 orders a day and their customers include many senior citizens, who have been isolated in their homes, companies buying lunch for their employees as well as clients currently working from home due to the pandemic.
FUN FACT OF THE WEEK!
The shortest commercial flight takes less than two minutes.
Incredibly, the shortest commercial flight, operating between the neighboring islands of Westray and Papa Westray in Scotland’s Orkney islands, takes around one and a half minutes. With the fastest recorded flight taking less than 50 seconds.
